The News-Gazette, Inc. in Champaign, IL is an award-winning local information media business looking for a full-time accountant responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services for the Finance department.

Essential Job Functions

•Create, post and balance data batches to corresponding business system.

•Daily processing of ACH/Credit Card receipts to software and banking system.

•Post journal entries in Microsoft Dynamics SL software system.

•Prepare and distribute 1099s to vendors.

•Assist with month-end and year closing and audit.

•Print, review and mail customer billing correspondence.

•Perform related duties as assigned.

Experience Preferred

•Knowledge and skills through completion of accounting coursework combined with related financial and administrative experience.

•Knowledge of account payable/receivables and maintaining general ledgers.

•Experience with computerized accounting, spreadsheets and word processing programs, and e-mail at a highly proficient level.

•Worked with high level, confidential financial and employee files.

Minimum Educational

Requirements

•Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience.

Controller

Position Overview

The Controller is responsible for all financial functions of the company. As a key member of our administrative management team, this position plays a significant leadership role in the organization through timely analysis, accurate reporting, and maintaining financial integrity across all internal processes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate successful prior financial leadership. A high energy level combined with above-average technical skills are both critical to success in the role.

Essential Functions

• Manages the activities of a five

person team across A/P, A/R,

Payroll, and General Ledger

functions.

• Coordinates regular client

invoicing processes utilizing

multiple business systems.

• Oversees and performs

standard month and year-end

closing process, including

preparation of all standard

financial statements.

• Aggressively seeks

opportunities across the

enterprise for efficiency

improvements.

• Works closely with executive

management in preparation of

budgets and forecasts for both

current lines of business and

new growth initiatives.

• Oversees annual financial and

benefit plan audit process in

cooperation with external

auditors.

• Maintains documentation for

accounting policies and

procedures to continually

strengthen internal controls

and ensure compliance.

• Maintains fixed asset data

base handling additions and

dispositions, as well as

preparing depreciation

schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in

Accounting, Finance, or related

discipline.

• Prior experience in a similar

management position.

• Experience with Microsoft

Dynamics SL, ADP Workforce

Now and associated reporting

tools.

• High level of proficiency with

MS Excel and standard PC-

based productivity tools.

• Demonstrated ability to extract,

manipulate, and analyze

complex data sets from various

sources.

• Ability to apply critical thinking

to complex problems and offer

suggested solutions to

management.

• Excellent written, oral, and

interpersonal communication

skills.

Metals Lab Technician:

Job summary:

Perform all laboratory related duties, including the use of laboratory equipment of metal samples, documentation of the same.

Duties:

Operation of laboratory test equipment, performing calculations for heat adjustments, responsible for data entry in a manufacturing data base and other record keeping assignments.

Educational and Skill requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent, Strong math skills, computer skills including Microsoft Office are a must. Resource Management software experience and experience working in a manufacturing plant.

Preferred Education and experience:

Some college level science coursework in math or the physical sciences. Primary metals industry experience is strongly preferred. Some programing familiarity is a definite plus.

Bid Opening will be on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. prevailing time at the Superintendent’s office in the North School (106 North Vine St., Royal, IL 61871) Bids will be publicly opened and read immediately after specified closing time.

The project consists of creating an addition of approximately 670 square feet to an existing building consisting of two offices, plus interconnecting corridor. Complete mechanical and electrical systems is included plus minor site work. Work also includes minor renovation to two existing interior spaces.

Alternate Bid work consists of removing and replacing aluminum storefront entry system.

Prevailing wages in accordance with Champaign County is required. Bid security is required, in the form of a bid bond or certified check in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the base bid.

Bid security shall be made payable to Prairieview-Ogden Community Consolidated School District #197.

Bonds are required: Both a Performance Bond or a Labor & Material Payment Bond is required for this project, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price.

Award of a contract is anticipated to occur at the March 13, 2017 regular meeting of the Board of Education. The Work shall be Substantially Complete on or before August 8, 2017 with final completion on or before August 12, 2017.
