The St. Joseph Grade School Parent Teacher Committee has one goal as a
group—to work together as parents, teachers and school employees to
benefit the school’s support and staff.
Vice President Cathy Franklin said the group works to bridge the gap
between parents and teachers.
“We put together fundraisers to raise money to pay for the cost of school
supplies, so teachers need not pay out of pocket for those items,” she
said. “Our fundraising efforts have paid for numerous Smart Boards and
Chrome books over the last few years, and we are able to offer fun events
throughout the year for students and parents alike.”
Some of those fun events include the back to school BBQ and ice cream
social, the red carpet and movie lunch for students, movie nights in the
gym, teacher appreciation week, fun day on the last day of school and the
PTC Carnival on March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the middle school. The event
includes inflatables and games.

for all of the events, meetings and fundraisers we offer, both at those
events and behind the scenes.
Twenty to 25 volunteers donate time for working different events, chairing
events, brainstorming ideas to accomplish in the future, and other needs.
“In reality this is a small percentage of volunteers, based on the number
of kids and families in the community,” Franklin said. “We want to make
sure that we’re making the best decisions for our school and community as
a whole, and look to the future and hopes of getting more willing parents
and grandparents to attend meetings, voice their suggestions and volunteer
Franklin said the volunteers share a common goal of making St. Joseph
schools the best they can be for the students, teachers and support staff.
“Having more hands on deck offering support can only help that cause,” she
