Library to sponsor gardening program

Happy New Year!
The library hopes everyone had a wonderful holiday season and wish all of you a Happy, Healthy New Year.
Don't forget that during these cold winter months the library is always a warm, welcoming place.  We have a comfortable sitting area and offer about two dozen current magazines that patrons can sit here and read or check out and take home.  We also offer public computers where patrons can check email, update their social media pages, or even look for employment and update resumes, or (gasp!) possibly do homework!  We love  to see people using the library.  We are a great resource for the community that often gets overlooked. We know it is still the middle of winter but here at the library we are already starting to think about spring.
The Homer garden group along with the Homer Community Library is preparing another three-part series of gardening programs.  The first program will be Saturday, Jan. 12th at 12:30. With guest speaker, Laura Wetzel, from Urbana, the group will meet at the Homer Village Hall on the second Saturday of January, February, and March from 12:30 - 2pm to learn more about growing annual veggies and perennial food crops. Topics of interest for beginner to advanced gardeners will include soil preparation, composting and fertilization, raised bed gardening, and much more.
Come and join us during these dreary winter day to start planning your garden for 2013!
