So you think you can dance

The Jan Gallo Dance Studio is welcoming a TV star on Oct. 7.
“We are crazy excited,” Jan Gallo said.
The studio will be hosting a Pop Up Master Hip Hop Class taught by Comfort  Fedoke.
Fedoke was a contestant on season four of the Show “So You Think You Can Dance?”.
She has appeared in  music videos for artists such as Jason Derulo, Ludacris, T-Pain, and Florence and the Machine.
She has danced alongside top artists such as Rhianna, LL Cool J, and Missy Elliott.  She was a singer and actor in the TV series “Glee”, and she has acted in a number of films over the years including “Step Up 5”, the 2011 remake of “Footloose” and “High Strung”.
She returned to the “So You Think You Can Dance” as an all-star for multiple seasons. She is also pursuing a music career.
Gallo said in addition to Fedoke teaching the Master classes at the studio there will be a showcase, photo opportunities and an awards ceremony.
Gallo said selected dancers may be chosen for scholarships to attend the 2018 Phoenix Fire  in New York City.
The Phoenix Fire will be held next August at the Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center in Brooklyn.
Dances taught include Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, Street Jazz, Musical Theatre, Modern, Acting for Dancers, Jazz Funk, lyrical, contemporary, center and stretch.
Last year’s faculty included  Lauren Froderman, from “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Jennifer Lopez’s World of Dance Tap Contestant,” Kyle Van Newkirk and Jon Rua from “Hamilton” on Broadway.
Gallo said selected dancers may also be invited to attend the Los Angeles Summer Experience for five days of commercial dance.
At this experience, dancers would get to work with the top choreographers and dancers in Los Angeles and they would shoot a music video with a professional recording artist to add to their professional resume.
“We are beyond thrilled to have Comfort and the Liberate Artists staff at our studio,” Gallo said.
The Master Class will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for minis and juniors and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for teens and seniors.  Students should be ages 6 and older.
Students can register at www.picatic.com/gallodance. The cost is $69.99.
Gallo Dance Studio is located at 308 Meadow Street in St. Joseph.
