Play day event to take place

FOR THE LEADER

St. Joseph United Methodist Church invites parents and children through grade school age for a super-simple play date starting 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at Hackler Park, also known as the dinosaur park.
Worried you’ll have to make a casserole and a dessert and find just the right outfit? No need to worry.
“This is simply a time for kids to play and for parents to connect. We’re talking easy, quick and casual,” said Beth Hill, our church’s youth director.
“We’ll provide a variety of sandwiches, with gluten-free options, as well as drinks, activities and plenty of hand sanitizer.”
Those who participate are welcome, but not required, to bring a snack to share. Store-bought is fine.
“Really, let’s keep it simple,” insists Pastor Gene Turner, who became pastor at the church in July and is looking for opportunities to reach families.
“We know how busy people are these days. We offer a weekly meal at our church, but we’re not sure it’s what families want or need,” he said. “We want to hear what our church family can do for and with other families—whether it’s providing certain services, finding ways to restore or grow in faith or even just making time to connect.”
Keeping things simple, parents who attend St. Joseph United Methodist Church will lead a quick chat to get feedback on these questions.
•    What time and day would work best for a regular family meal or time to gather?
•    What would attract you to bring your children to family-focused fellowship events?
•    What activities would you like to do with other parents while receiving free child care?
“We welcome your ideas, and we welcome you,” Pastor Turner said. “Feel free to join us and tell us what’s on your mind.”
If you have questions or plan to attend, please call the church office at 469-2515 or send an email to office@sjumchurch.org. You can also share your feedback to the questions by email.  Learn more about St. Joseph United Methodist Church at www.sjumchurch.org.
