Broadlands could have an updated community center.
Mayor Matt Buffington reported at the December meeting that a resident is interested in fixing up the interior and exterior of the Community Center for kids sports activities and for use by residents for gatherings and community functions.
The board discussed these various uses as well as ways the village could contribute to this project. The board will further discuss this issue at the next meeting.
The board also heard that Ron Gast has completed winterization on the pumphouse and recommended additional structure repair for the roof.
The board will discuss the matter further at a future meeting.
Also at the meeting, Buffington told the board he received a letter from the Embarrass River District stating that village water rates have increase by 20 cents per 1,000 gallons of water. The rate increase began in December.
The board discussed present revenue and expenditures and will further discuss the impact of this rate increase at the next meeting.
Also at the meeting, Trustee Patrick Reynolds told the board there is a crack in an old sidewalk and an uneven surface at the corner of Second and Main. Buffington said he would follow up on this issue.
Also at the meeting, Trustee Brian Loman said he will call to have the potty house removed from the park for the winter. Loman reported the baskets are up for the basketball hoops and the mulch has been laid around playground surfaces.
In other news, Buffington reported he has completed an estimate for the village repairs to streets for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
