Mayor B.J. Hackler is asking St. Joseph businesses to give away a bicycle in July.
Hackler, who came up with the idea with Trustee Art Rapp, is asking businesses to purchase a bicycle to give away during the ribbon cutting of the Kickapoo Rail Trail which will be held in the village in July.
Hackler said he thinks the idea is a win for the village, the trail and local businesses.
“It will encourage people to visit our local businesses and come to the ribbon cutting,” he said.
Hackler said the village will also be participating in the give away. Hackler said businesses could give away a mens, women or child bike. Anyone who visits a participating business could register for the give away. On the day of the ribbon cutting the drawings would be done near the location of the ribbon cutting.
Numerous St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce businesses have already agreed to participate.
Anyone wanting more information on the event can contact Hackler at village hall at 469-7371 or email the Chamber at email@example.com.
