Defense shuts down Salt Fork

For The Leader

Tori Master wasn’t the only player on the court for the St. Joseph-Ogden girls basketball team against Salt Fork on Saturday.
But she almost won the game all by herself.
Master scored a team-high 11 points, equaling the entire Salt Fork team in a 44-11 victory. Master wasn’t just a force on offense, she also contributed three steals.
The Spartans’ defense was stifling all night, swiping the ball 14 times while holding Salt Fork to just three points in the first half. Bailey Trimble, Ashley Landis and Ashley Beals each scored eight points for SJO (8-1).
Trimble has had a 3-pointer in every game this year for the Spartans except one. SJO plays at Monticello on Tuesday and hosts Prairie Central on Saturday before resting up for the State Farm Holiday Classic the day after Christmas.
