Landis powers Spartans to wins

Senior guard Ashley Landis led the St. Joseph-Ogden girls basketball team to a pair of wins this week.
Landis scored 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed eight rebounds in a 55-22 victory against Clifton Central.
The Spartans’ defense swiped 19 steals while holding the vistors to five, six, five and six points in the four quarters.
Ashley Beals added eight points.
Landis then scored 15 points and Bailey Trimble recorded a team-high 16 points to power SJ-O (14-3) to a 52-41 win at Tuscola. Trimble knocked down two 3-pointers and Landis hit one from behind the arc.
The Spartans pulled away in the fourth quarter, turning a 32-29 lead into a 11-point victory by outscoring the Warriors 20-12 in the final frame.
SJ-O hosts rival St. Thomas More on Monday before traveling to Teutopolis on Thursday and hosting Momence on Saturday.
